A very well organised and interesting day. Ash Village Hall was packed with an encouraging number of like-minded people. Dr John Puckett started off the proceedings with a fascinating insight into bats. Plenty of anecdotes and interesting facts about the lives of these secretive and unique mammals. After a tea break, Martin Newcombe gave us a talk on another largely nocturnal mammal, the badger. Both speakers had spent much of their lives immersed in the study of these creatures and their enthusiasm showed. A well organised and excellent value lunch followed by family activities. Great to see displays from various groups including the Guides, two Bat groups, both Ash and Staple Wildlife Friendly Village Groups and others. Well done Ash!
