Three-cornered Leek

This plant is an invasive species. This means, that in the wild, it can out-compete native species and cause harm to the status of those species. It is called Three-cornered Leek (Allium triquetyrum). In cross-section, the stems and leaves are somewhat triangular. It looks a little bit like Wild Garlic (Allium ursinum), a native plant, and certainly smells similar. In Cornwall, it smothers many of the hedge-banks and has drastically reduced the plant diversity in these habitats. It's all over the place in Whitstable. This clump was along the footpath opposite Rowan Close.
