Comma
Comma

Another beautiful day with plenty of warm sunshine. My second butterfly of the year was a Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) and this Comma (Polygonia c-album) was the third. Both were in the grounds of Goodnestone House. The 4 species that have been seen in the past two days are adults that have hibernated overwinter. There are plenty of suitable places for this around the Goodnestone Estate and the sheltered walled garden is a great place for the first flight of spring.
