We now have two good sized compost bins at the churchyard. As all grass clippings are now being collected to gradually reduce the soil fertility and encourage greater plant diversity, the amount of waste is considerable. These heaps will allow lots of invertebrates to breed and this will help further up the food chain. Compost heaps are great for slow worms too and voles will often burrow beneath them.
