A mass emergence of Ivy Bees this morning on the grassy banks approaching the church porch. Certainly more than last year which is good news. Plenty of Ivy flowers, on the point of opening in the churchyard, for them to feed from. These are solitary bees, each female excavating an individual nest cavity. But, there can be many nests in a small area. These bees are harmless!
