Ron Sear at Summerfield was rather startled by this beast today. He came across it whilst gardening and I was able to drop by and see it. It's an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar. The prominent 'eyes' are there to frighten would-be predators and Ron apparently. The moth is so named due to the caterpillar resembling an elephant's trunk.
