One of our most common Ladybirds, the 7-Spot Ladybird. Adult ladybirds hibernate through the winter in hollow stems, dead-hedges, garden sheds and attics. In a glut year, they can cover walls and windows in their thousands in autumn, looking for nooks to shelter in. Ladybirds are good insects as they are carnivorous and feed on garden pests. This was one of several on White Dead-Nettles along Chalkpit Lane.
