The power of weeds! This is a single flower head of Perennial Sowthistle (Sonchus arvensis). It is a tenacious weed of garden borders, spreading by creeping stolons as well as abundant wind-borne seeds. However, where it is tolerated, it provides sustenance for the masses. These invertebrates were enjoying breakfast in the churchyard this morning.
