In May, I posted a picture of caterpillars in a web on spindle. The webs are a common sight and are the work of the larvae of small ermine moths. There are several very similar species each one feeding on a different food-plant. Larvae of the Spindle Ermine moth (Yponomeuta cagnagella) feed on Spindle leaves and the moth below is likely an adult of that species.
