This micro-moth, a male Small China-mark (Cataclysta lemnata), was a pleasing find at the new pond in the churchyard. The larvae feed on duckweed mainly (which you can see,out of focus, in the picture). They build a protective casing of duckweed leaves and feed below the surface of the water. The pond is a new habitat and is already attracting new species to the churchyard.
