Probably not my prettiest post! Any budding scatologists will recognise this as a badger latrine-and a rather well used one. Badgers are clean animals and defaecate in shallow pits. Each pit may be used several times. If you look closely (no obligation), you'll see a lot of wild plum stones. Badgers are omnivorous and whilst preferring earthworms and grubs, they will take whatever is freely available. The hedgerow harvest has been excellent this year and fruit is easier to come by than digging for worms in the currently baked soil.
