Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor) beginning to flower in the churchyard. This plant in a hemi-parasite, which means it taps into the roots of surrounding plants, often grasses, and steals nutrients. This action stunts the growth of grass reducing the competition for other flowering species, often leading to an uptick in plant diversity. That's the hope anyway.
