There is a healthy population of small spiders in the long grass areas of the churchyard. They prey on the masses of small flies and other tiny invertebrates that also live here. The one in the photo is slightly over 0.5cms long. It is a rather attractive Common Candy-striped Spider (Enoplognatha ovata).
